Do Not Fear, For I Am with You!
My mother-in-law has a birthday this week. She will be 95. She is a delightful woman who has endured much and kept her head up high all her life. Her husband died about 35 years ago and her oldest son died a few years ago. She prays a lot and we always ask her to pray when we visit. She doesn’t ever miss a beat and leaves nothing out. She was born during a recession and lived through World War II. As we celebrate with her, we also celebrate her perseverance.
We persevere because God promised over and over that He’s with us, He’ll give us strength and He will accomplish His purposes in our lives. Isaiah 41:10 says, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
What does it take to persevere? According to Isaiah, the foundation of hope is God’s character. When we know God’s goodness, we can cling to the Father and His promise will provide what we need each day. If you are having trouble holding on in this world we live in, God calls us to be not dismayed because He will strengthen you and help you. God says “I will uphold you with my righteous hand.” My mother-in-law has done that for 95 years and continues to be a blessing every day. May you become a blessing today and share this blessing every day of your life!
Prayer: Father, Your love gives us everything we need to persevere. Help us to rely on your strength every day. Amen.
