Carolyn’s mother is 93 years old and very active. From the day I met her, she will go outside with us when we’re leaving and wave to us until we get out of sight. When it’s cold, you can see her from the window. Still watching! When our boys are visiting, we do the same thing. Carolyn and I walk out with them and stand there until they get out of sight. We are always concerned about them and pray for them until they get home.
During this time of uncertainty, we need to be reminded that our Heavenly Father has the same concern and love for us. Psalm 121 says, “The Lord watches over you – the Lord is your shade at your right hand.” (vs. 5) Psalm 121 is a song for the journey and it speaks about seeking God’s help amid the dangers that could be encountered along the way.
Israel’s pilgrims are facing dangers as they climb the dangerous roads that lead to Jerusalem where they are to worship. “The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night. The Lord keeps you from all harm – he will watch over your life.” (Verses 6-7) As we climb our life’s road, “the Lord will watch (our) coming and going.” Why? Because of His love for us. When? For “now and evermore.” (Vs. 8)
Prayer: Our loving Father, as we travel the road of life, thank You for watching over us and keeping us safe.
