Last week was filled with daily reports about the coronavirus, fueling speculation and uncertainty that may take some time to sort out. As we await reports coming out of Asia and elsewhere, we naturally turn to how the spread of disease may affect people around the world.
Moses knew that God was with him when he encountered Pharaoh during the plague of darkness. Eight epic disasters happened to Egypt and the Pharaoh told Moses to, “get out of my sight! Make sure you do not appear before me again! The day you see my face you will die.” Exodus 10:28) Despite this threat, Moses eventually was used by God to free the Israelites from the Pharaoh’s control. “By faith Moses left the land of Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger. He kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible.” (Hebrews 11: 27) Moses overcame the Pharaoh by believing that God would keep His promise of deliverance.
Today, we have a global problem and we have cause to be anxious, but we also have a God who has promised to always be with us. God will be with us in every situation. We have brilliant scientists who will find a cure. We have medical facilities that will take care of the sick and we have a God that will love us through this disease. My prayer is that by the time this is published, the numbers will be diminishing. My prayer is that by the time this is published many will be cured and off quarantine. My prayer for you today is that the spirit will provide the courage you and I will need to keep going, following God’s leading in our lives.
Prayer: Lord help me to keep my eyes on You. Protect me. Guide me, and help me trust You in every situation! Amen!
