Whoever Sows Sparingly

We have a problem in our world today. We have overlooked or forgotten the word “tithe.” Everywhere I go, I hear churches telling me people are not giving like they used to. Almost every day, I talk to churches that are struggling to meet expenses. We need to learn from Oral Roberts and say over and over again, “My tithe is not something I owe, but a seed I sow.”
God is not a genie or a magician to be manipulated. But His Word is good. Jesus explains sowing and reaping in a different way: “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (Luke 6:38)
II Corinthians 9:6 – “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will reap generously.”
