My New Year’s Prayer
As we face a New Year, many things cause us to “fear” and be “worried.” The stock market is dropping. Troops are coming home, and some think it’s the wrong move. Immigration seems to be in total chaos. The United Methodist Church is having a called General Conference, and no one knows what effect that will have on our church.
However, I see several things that are exciting. For instance, the number of youth attending Bible studies is growing. Schools are seeing growing numbers of youth who want to gather around the flagpole or in a classroom after school or before school. Younger parents want their children to have biblical values and, in some cases, are bringing the children to church when they had not been attending before.
We have always lived in a world filled with negativity, but this new year gives us another chance to turn around. I pray that the new year will be the best year of your life. I pray that you will begin and close each day in God’s Word. I pray that you will teach your children what the Bible says and that you will be a faithful attendee at your church. If your church is not what you want, work hard to make it better. The new year will be a wonderful year because Jesus came in the form of a baby to save the world. Give Jesus a chance this year!
