The I Love Me Club
“One man is no man at all,” the old Latin proverb reminds us. It’s when we learn to do things together that humanity has known its highest joys, thus we pray: “Our father, who art in heaven…”
My father used to say there are too many people who are presidents of the “I Love Me Club.” I think he is right. Nothing is accomplished when we think the world revolves around us. We need to learn to say “our” instead of “mine.” We need to learn how to not be focused on “I” and “you” but “we” and “our.”
When we work with one another and learn to listen and be transparent, we become a team, and a team accomplishes so much more than an individual. Stop being a member of the “I Love Me” club!
