The Diversity of God
I took my granddaughter to a birthday party before COVID hit our land. The birthday party was at a shopping center at a business that entertained the young at heart. Cammie was at the party for over an hour, and I sat in the middle of the shopping center watching people. Have you ever done that? Everyone was different! Everyone had a story, and I’m sure no story was the same. People from every nationality came by. People that looked different, and many were speaking different languages. God’s creation is diverse, and we share in that diversity every day.
Diversity has its challenges. Cultures clash! No city built by human hands can compare to the wonder of our eternal home. When the apostle John was transported into the presence of God, diversity was one of the elements of heavenly worship, as the redeemed sang, “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open the seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.” (Revelations 5:9-10)
Can you imagine how wonderful heaven will be? There will be every group and nationality. There will be every language and color. Everyone will have a story, and everyone will get along and live peacefully with each other. There will be a parade of every group in the world celebrating the wonder of being children of the living God. Everyone will be together! When we believe in Jesus, we can celebrate that diversity today!
Prayer: Father, I thank you that no group is excluded from your great love. Teach us to love one another, as you have so generously loved us! Amen.
Revelation 5:9 – “With your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.”
