Meet Rev. James Smith
Rev. Smith is in his eighth year serving on the Foundation Board for our Conference. He has been the secretary for the Board for seven years. Jim says, “Serving on the Foundation Board has been one of the greatest joys I have experienced.” He appreciates helping the church and individuals.
Jim is married to Juanita and they have one son. This is Jim’s twenty-third year in ministry and he has served churches all over the state. He started out at Trinity Circuit in the Portsmouth District followed by Waverly UMC. Jim then moved to the Capron Charge, also on the Portsmouth District. Later, he moved to the Winchester District and served Emmanuel UMC, followed by the Staunton District where he served Granbery Memorial UMC. The James River District was Jim’s next tenure where he served Ivey Memorial UMC. From there, he and Juanita moved to Berryville, Virginia, to serve Duncan Memorial UMC where he is in his third year.
Many of us call “Jim” the Energizer Bunny! He visits all the time and does an amazing amount of work. Jim has been a faithful servant and has served the Virginia United Methodist Foundation with grace and dignity. He is a wonderful Board Member!
