I’m amazed at what one can learn when studying all that God has created. Did you know that photons from the sun hitting the earth today are 30,000 years old? Saturn is a wild planet. Winds ten times stronger than hurricane-force swirl at its equator. These winds never stop blowing. Galaxies move at an average speed of 140 miles per second. Did you know that only 10% of the earth’s oceans have been explored? The Great Barrier Reef is the largest living structure on Earth and can be seen from space. The Great Barrier Reef is made up of 400 species of coral, supporting over 2,000 different species of fish and 4,000 mollusks as well as countless other invertebrates.
If you are a hiker or love to walk, it’s easy to see God’s creation. If you have ever gone outside on a clear night and looked up into the sky, it’s easy to see God’s creation. If you’ve ever seen a baby take their first breath, it’s easy to realize the magnificence of all that God has created.
We are part of the Milky Way galaxy, but that’s just one galaxy – there are between 200 billion to two trillion galaxies! The Hubble telescope can see about 100 billion galaxies, but this is a small number compared to the immense number of galaxies out there. We believe in a God who has created all of this and continues to create!
God has created a world that is pleasing to Him, and man is part of this creation. God put His creation under the care of mankind. Man began to worship the creation rather than the creator. This must make God immeasurably sad.
It’s easy to take the beauty of creation for granted. And yet there is beauty everywhere we look. The flowers and the trees adorn our world. Sunrises and sunsets declare the glory of God. Our world would change if we paused a moment to see the beauty of God’s creation. May God’s creation make us realize the wonderful God and all that He has given us.
Prayer – Dear Father of us all, creation speaks to me daily of Your majesty. Remind me to slow down, enjoy and appreciate Your creation. Amen.
Psalm 135:5-6 – “I know that the Lord is great, that our Lord is greater than all gods. The Lord does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.”
