Anxiety & Depression: Signs, Strategies & Hope
Presenter: Heather Shaheen, L.C.S.W., M.A.C.E., M.Ed.
In this session, we will discuss what anxiety and depression look like, warning signs to recognize in yourself or others, practical strategies to manage symptoms and finding hope!
Heather Shaheen has provided quality treatment to children, adolescents, adults and families for more than two decades in the Richmond region. Her career experience includes serving as the licensed clinical social worker and director of missions and outreach with New Song Church since 2003. Heather recently served as the president of Hanover Cares, partnering with local Hanover community agencies and residents to provide education and training in advocating for substance abuse prevention amongst our youth and young adult populations. Previously, she served five years as the coordinator and leader of Celebrate Recovery at New Song Church, five years as the coordinator of the Central Virginia Leadership Academy at VCU, four years as a middle school special education teacher and advocate and two years as the coordinator of adoption services with Adoption Resources International. Heather feels very blessed to work with so many in our local community helping individuals discover they matter to God and are loved.
