Dedication of Redwood UMC
To commemorate the completion of Phase 1 of the Redwood Outreach Center (ROC), Redwood UMC had a combined worship service and Dedication Service on October 24, 2021. Bishop Sharma Lewis preached and Rev. Denise Bates were there to be part of the ribbon cutting and lunch. Redwood UMC is pastored by Rev. Clayton Payne and Rev. Sarah Payne.
Phase 1 has new classroom space, youth ministry space, bathrooms with showers for visiting mission teams and offices for the two pastors. Phase II (upper floor) will have a full size gym, stage, and kitchen when completed.
The ROC is a vehicle to further Redwood’s mission to connect to the unconnected with a community of faith where Jesus Christ transforms them into world-changing disciples.
The ROC has traveled a long road to get to where it is today. Progress has started and stopped several times. It’s exciting to see Phase I completed and we look forward to Phase II in the future. The Virginia United Methodist Development Company has been part of Phase I. We are excited to have been part of this project and look forward to helping with Phase II.
The vision of Redwood UMC arose out of a need to reach out and serve the community by providing a Christ centered space. Redwood strives to build life-giving relationships in the community where Christ reaches new people and transforms lives.
