Sound Footings – Summer 2021
At the time of this writing, the rush of warmer weather is coming fast, signaling that Annual Conference is on the horizon, which will have happened by the time you read this. We regret that we do not have the opportunity to see you in person during the conference, but we are very happy that we have seen many of you at your churches, and that we have other visits scheduled. If you’d like us to visit, please let us know.
We recently completed our Annual Investors Briefing, open to all existing and prospective Foundation investors. During the meeting our advisors at Merrill Lynch reviewed the performance of our funds over the past year, and gave their outlook for the coming months. They believe our funds are correctly positioned and well-diversified. Like many investment professionals, they do see the specter of inflation on the horizon, and will be following with interest the various fiscal spending proposals. Over the longer term, the market will respond to any changes in monetary policy that evolve. Our investment committee has reviewed our Investment Policy Statement in light of these forecasts, and continues to believe in its soundness.
Some good recent news is that more in-person options are being offered in our churches. We’re excited to see what changes you have envisioned and are implementing. We hope to share some of them in our communication in the future. We’re also hearing about partnerships our churches are forming with not-for-profits in their communities. Preschools and afterschool programs are often a natural fit, but there are other innovative programs as well. Let us know what you’re doing! We may be able to help.
In many ways we have all be separated from one another for months. As we emerge from seclusion, let’s take heart and enter into this new time with thanksgiving, in boldness and an eagerness to reach others in a way we haven’t before. There are those in need of comfort and security who may not know how to ask. We believe that God hears their prayers. May we be instruments of God’s love, and gratefully employ His resources to fulfill His purpose.
We’ll see you on the trail!
Joshua 1:9
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Sincerely,
Bo Bowden, President
