Meet the Rev. Dr. Steven J. Summers
President
The Rev. Dr. Steven J. Summers is a second-career pastor. After working for 19 years as the vice president, CEO and co-owner of a commercial leasing and equipment business, Steve answered God’s call to ordained ministry. For the last 25 years he has pastored churches of all sizes, and served as the past president of the Virginia Conference Council on Finance and Administration, a district superintendent, a director of connectional ministries, and the assistant to the bishop/COO of the Virginia Annual Conference. As of June 23, 2025, Steve began a new ministry season as the president of the Virginia United Methodist Foundation and Development Company. Steve is an ICF ACC-certified coach with a passion to journey with other leaders in assisting them to realize the positive adaptive change they seek in life. His greatest joys are his spouse (Sallie), his two adult daughters, his son-in-law and two granddaughters (7 months and 9 years old). In his spare time Steve enjoys working on all things mechanical, yard work, and hanging out with Poppy, the family’s rescue beagle.
