Meet Randy Shelton
VP, Lending and Capital Investments
Prior to serving in my new position as Lending Relationship Manager at Virginia United Methodist Church Development Company, LLC, I was involved in banking and lending for the previous 40 years.
My working career includes President and CEO, REDC Community Capital Group, Inc; Senior Vice President and COO with Consolidated Bank & Trust Company, Inc. (now Premier Bank); Vice President and Manager, Commercial Lending and Government Loan Center, Signet Bank (now Wells Fargo); Maritz Inc./General Motors, Inc., Facilitator/Consultant; Virginia Commonwealth University, Adjunct Professor, Corporate Finance, School of Business.
Since 2004, I have served as an adjunct professor in the School of Business, at Virginia Commonwealth University. During this time, I have taught Finance #311 and other related courses. I recognize the importance of teaching and preparing students to lead successful careers and lives as professionals in Corporate America.
I am a native of Richmond, Virginia and earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology and communication theory at University of Virginia and a master’s degree in business management, Virginia Commonwealth University. Presently, I have three adult children and two grandkids.
I have been a member of Chicago Avenue Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia since being baptized at an early age of 15 years. Presently, I represent the church, serving as trustee, finance chairman, and budget chairman while working to build God’s Kingdom. I truly believe that “Whatever you do in life, you must put God first” He’s the head of my life and deserves all the praise. Working at the Virginia UMC Development Co. has afforded me the opportunity to continue my vision of giving back to the community and embracing the mission of the organization: “Stewarding Potential to build His kingdom!”
